Description

The Category Manager owns and manages the category/portfolio of products and services by species/customer segments with as focus the retail segment. This includes accountability for the innovation pipeline of new products, services and solutions (NPSS) within the Cargill Animal Nutrition business in Russia.

The position focuses on portfolio management thru strategic planning, analytics and assortment optimization that has a great impact on developing growth, awareness and profitability of the brands in the Russian marketplace. This is accomplished through a thorough understanding of the customer, consumer, and competitive environment, while working together with key stakeholders (Sales and Strategic Marketing & Technology functions) to develop and execute effective marketing strategies and tactics. Accountable for driving profitable growth of the portfolio for Cargill Animal Nutrition in Russia, ensuring alignment to our strategy and prioritizing resources effectively.

As a leader of NPSS process the Category Manager is responsible for tying species strategies with that of our customer strategies and market trends. This position will lead members of the technology team which serves as a technical expert and link between research and development, technology application and other marketing team members.

Cross-functional collaboration is required to lead, drive & evaluate innovation & portfolio projects, as well as collaborating with external customers, vendors, and other influencers to ensure all efforts have a strong market connect.

This position is designed to support a variety of projects and tasks; all leading to the successful execution of the business Strategy.

Portfolio management:40%

  • Develop and execute product portfolio strategy by species/customer segments, based on market and segment needs including the utilization of channels, pricing and promotions to drive growth. Collaborates with Marketing Communication Team.

  • Provides regular analysis of portfolio/SKU profitability & recommends decisions based on the analysis & overall market knowledge

  • Provides regular analysis of store/dealer profitabilty & recommends decisions based on the analysis & overall market knowledge on promotions to increase sales

  • Briefs for & supports execution of tactical marketing plans for product portfolio support (i.e. people, positioning, product, pricing, packaging, place, promotion).

  • Collaborates across the business to ensure strategic market based pricing, revenue and profitability goals are met.

  • Collaborates within Marketing team on maintaining, enhancements and re-purposing/packaging of existing products.

NPSS management:40%

  • Leads the development and implementation of a three-year innovation (NPSS) strategy, pipeline, and execution roadmap.

  • Leads cross-functional NPSS species teams (Marketing, Technology, R&D, Sales) driving the innovation pipeline and product life-cycles. Identifies and manages research and analysis to evaluate new innovation opportunities.

  • Uses Customer Focused Development (CFD) approach, project management process and Marketing Academy tools to identify, develop and launch new value-creating products, services and solutions.

  • Collaborates with internal and external partners to discover new insights about customers and then designs, tests, and delivers new offerings and packages.

  • Developes & introduces the local marketing plan (LIP): strategic marketing & sales plans, collaborates on execution with Marketing Communication Team.

  • Manages NPSS initiatives through the life-cycle .

  • Manages results for quality, timeline, and budget via scorecards

  • Manages the gate review process

  • Responsible for feasibility studies and field trials management.

  • Researches the design of products and ensures that quality standards are met.

  • Provides internal trainings

Reporting & Budget Management:10%

  • Manages NPSS marketing budgets

  • Accountable for business results –revenue by New products, services, and solutions (NPSS).

Team management:10%

  • Performance management, compensation, engagement, and succession planning of Marketing Communication team:

  • Manages Marketing Communication Team Specialist(s): PM, 1:1 reviews, team engagement, internal capabilities development
