Industry Engagement Partner provides consulting and service-oriented business development and program management support with the industry focus in Oil&Gas. Teradata’s industry practice helps executives in Oil&Gas sector achieve operational performance goals through business analytics and reorganization decisions.

Our field team delivers deep business analytics insight and support to Teradata customers by creating, managing or leading part of the customer’s data warehouse program. Successful candidate will use experience and thought leadership to establish and develop an appropriate data warehouse strategy for the key industry’s customers. (S)he will take leading responsibility for engaging, winning and delivering major projects with local teams aligning consulting, architecture and engineering skills. IEP will also have a responsibility to manage customer’s satisfaction and delivering greater value to Teradata’s customers based on high profile consulting services and technology-driven engagements.

This is IEP’s primary role to understand the customer needs and the way to grow business around Teradata solutions and technologies (e.g. DWH, TRM, VA, BigData, Hadoop, etc). In this role, successful candidate will work collaborative with Teradata Account executive(s), Industry Consultant, assigned Project Manager(s) and other consultingl services specialists as required. It’s critical that IEP is able to communicate openly with Teradata solutions and industry communities to drive knowledge transfer and Teradata’s COE’s experience utilization.

Because of the business development focus, IEP will take responsibility for revenue growth and profit targets and work under direction of the Industry Business Manager to drive revenue growth. Where possible, s(he) will be expected to mentor new hires into managing projects to achieve revenue targets.

Key area of responsibility

Business development:

  • Provide assistance with new business initiatives and pursuit activities in the assigned industry.

  • Understand and analyze Teradata’s business solutions and the way to generate value to our clients; be aware about key technology trends like big data and data lake approach, internet of things, cloud services, etc. Along with Industry consulting professional(s), collect and utilize relevant business and industry trend information and perform mapping the results with “go to market” strategies. If required, gather data and ramp-up including interviewing, surveying, and market research.

  • Assist clients with business analytics, strategic IT planning and business solutions reviews based on Teradata technologies; perform market opportunity sizing using industry specific context and technology integration requirements.

  • Manage bidding procedures and proposal development, support contract negotiations including presentation of sales proposals and support the local team during bid reviews; along with Professional Services specialists, work on scoping and risk assessment, including but not limited to defining goals and objectives, identifying client requirements, resource requirements, project budget, project risks and the translation of the clients’ business requirements into specific deliverables.

Project management:

  • Along with delivery professionals, manage all aspects of deployment initiatives across the assigned industry, including project scope definitions, communication and negotiations, client’s resource allocation and coordination with local and international teams to deliver in timely and quality manner, managing knowledge sharing and delivering discrete sections of work against tight deadlines;

  • Perform risk management and mitigation actions, leading project recovery services to minimize Teradata’s exposure on projects/programs whose performance (cost, schedule, quality) has exceeded acceptable thresholds and/or is potentially compromising customer satisfaction.

  • Writing, communicating, facilitating, and presenting cogently; to and/or for all levels of audiences, clients and internal staff and management;

  • Manage and control over proper set up of the engagement(s) in the time keeping system, ensuring consultants and contractors are always accurate with their reported time.


  • Minimum Years of Experience: 7 years

  • Degree Preferred: Master's degree in Finance, Engineering, Economics, Computer Science

  • Demonstrated thorough knowledge and proven record of success in due diligence or corporate IT strategy roles, preferably for a globally recognized network of professional services firms and premier consulting companies.

  • Proven leadership skills and ability to manage cross functional and cross cultural teams through collaborative relationships a productive team work environment. Proactive attitude, high personal commitment and motivation and ability to work independently

  • Experience in one or more core industries: Oil&Gas, Energy&Utilities, Infrastructure

  • Excellent analytical and consulting skills. Ability to collect and utilize relevant business and industry trend information and apply strategic analysis techniques and methodologies;

  • Proven experience in managing complex integration project with contractual and budget responsibilities and multicultural team compositions is required. Experience with project management in business analytics or BI SW solution implementation. Experience with open source technologies would be an advantage.

  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, oral, written communication and presentation skills. Proven organization and planning skills.

  • Experience at working effectively in highly challenging environments; Quick learner, ability to adapt to new and changing circumstances. Balancing time, multi-tasking and keeping a rapid pace without sacrificing quality.

  • Fluent English and native Russian

  • Utilizing technology instruments, including the Microsoft Office suite of applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Access.
