The Advocacy and marketing coordinator (AMC) performs the following services under direct supervision and in cooperation with Europe Advocacy Director:

  • Planning and implementation of annual advocacy activities, development of semi-annual marketing and advocacy plans, based on the needs of clinical and testing programs and advocacy priorities of AHF Russia.

  • Planning and implementation of in-country activities of global advocacy campaigns initiated by AHF. In coordination with other staff, partners and supervisors; including communication with authorizes and decision-makers, implementation of street protests, marches, rallies, sign-ons and any other advocacy activities in Russia.

  • Ongoing coordination of community mobilization in country regions and in AHF programs in Russia.

  • Consultation of patients addressing AHF with issues related to barriers in receiving HIV care, writing official requests and letters, accompanying patients in doing so, assistance to patients willing to go to court to defend their rights, assistance in getting legal advice;

  • Regular assessment of the state healthcare system in relation to HIV, aiming to reveal barriers and obstacles for further advocacy (including interviewing stakeholders, patients, calculation of the treatment need and coverage based on the tender documentation etc).

  • Regular analysis of system of drug provision in HIV, TB and HCV aiming to improve treatment access including specifically monitoring and analysis of tenders conducted by the government on HIV, TB, HCV in Russia.

  • Regular mapping of parliament, government, professional, academia community representatives searching for potential allies. Creation and update of the database with allies’ contacts for further use in advocacy (national and regional wise).

  • Development of media-relationships. Provision of comments to media. Regular media monitoring on general political situation, healthcare-related news and HIV coverage in country to understand the impact of global picture to country advocacy.

  • Build partnerships with main stakeholders - HIV and TB service providers and patient organizations in order to promote AHF and achieve advocacy and marketing targets;

  • Development of marketing materials (posters, cards, flyers, brochures, etc.), including coordination of development of the text by relevant program coordinators, revision by editors, focus groups etc. for marketing and advocacy campaigns in country.

  • Negotiations with relevant parties regarding placement of social and advocacy ads (billboards, advertisement on TV and radio etc.).

  • Distribution of the marketing information about AHF and its’ initiatives with aim to make it accessible for patients in TB, HIV, STI, HCV –related healthcare facilities.

  • Administration of the web-site FREEHIVTEST, updating articles and information, writing stories of patients, who suffered stock-outs;

  • Preparation of the monthly, quarterly and annual advocacy and marketing reports for Russia.

  • Presentation of results of advocacy work in Russia at conferences, events, internal meetings.

  • Prepare budget requests for Russia advocacy and submit them every month before the 20th.

  • Performs other tasks as required.

Education and/or Experience

  • Degree or Diploma in Health related field or Social Science;

  • HIV knowledge and project management experience essential;

  • Report writing, preparation of documents and proposal writing skills required.

Other Skills and Abilities

  • Needs to be sensitive to patient population and issues surrounding HIV/AIDS;

  • Good command of up-to date knowledge and practices in HIV/AIDS treatment and care;

  • Ability to write abstracts and understand basic research concepts;

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills;

  • Be a strategic thinker, have good organizational and planning skills and ability to prioritize tasks and work quickly and accurately to meet deadlines;

  • Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software;

  • Fluency in Russia n and English required.
